Does a Le Creuset Dutch oven require seasoning?

Le Creuset Dutch ovens are enameled, and therefore do not require seasoning like traditional raw cast iron.

What size should I buy?

A good rule of thumb is one quart per serving. If you typically prepare four servings, a Dutch oven of four quarts or more should be sufficient.

Is the knob oven-safe?

Yes, both the Dutch oven and the knob are oven-safe up to 500°F.

Received damaged, return process is obnoxious

I love all of my other LC pieces but I haven’t been able to use this one as it arrived covered in fingerprints, scratched, and with bare patches on the outer enamel. The ridiculous returns process means that I have not been able to get a returns authorization because I also work during normal business hours. I tried calling the outlet near me to see if I could just exchange for a new one and was told that they couldn’t guarantee they’d have the color when I arrived. Pretty sure the difficult return process is intentional but it does not make me want to buy more from LC.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Wish I'd Bought this Years Ago

I just love this. I've used this almost every day since it arrived. My primary use so far has been for braising. The high sides keep most of the grease spatter inside the pot. The oval shape allows more content in one layer. The handles are well-placed so that it is easy to maneuver, despite the necessary size and weight. It fits easily in my double sink, although mine is deep — it might be a little awkward in a shallow sink. Even though my burners are round, it works well on the stove top, probably because the pot conducts and holds heat so well. Although the pot is large, I recommend it for small kitchens because it is a multi-tasker that serves many functions.

Le Creuset Dutch Oven Purchase - Disappointing ExperienceCon

I purchased this dutch oven for my wife in July, but unfortunately, the color did not match the photos online—it just didn't look as good in person. When I reached out to customer service for an exchange.... they were less than helpful and informed me that if I wanted to exchange it, I'd have to mail it back at my own expense, which would cost between $70 and $100. Looking for a better option, I was told I could return it to the nearest outlet store for a refund. I did that, and the store gave me a receipt for $0, assuring me the refund was pending. Fast forward 20 days, and the refund is still pending, with the store manager blaming a Microsoft issue. They told me to contact customer service, which proved less than helpful. The representative kept interrupting me, and eventually said they'd have to get back to me because they were closed—at 3 PM MST. At this point, I have zero confidence in their ability to resolve this issue. The store manager even suggested I dispute the charge with my bank, which I'm now doing. Tired of giving Le Creuset what amount to a $600 zero interest loan for the last month. While my wife loves Le Creuset products (we have several), I'd recommend buying through Crate and Barrel, a local shop, or finding them secondhand. Dealing with their customer service has been pretty awful.
