I almost bought the $180 Phillips wakeup light, then had second thoughts and went for this cheaper one. I am so glad that I did, because this one has all the functionality I am looking for.
It has seriously changed my life and made waking up so much less groggy. I find the light doesn't get SUPER bright and it never wakes me up before the alarm sound goes off, however it definitely pulls me out of my deep sleep cycle because I never feel groggy/irritated when the sound goes off. The sound options are very gentle (I love the wind chimes!) and it's great that you can pre-set the volume.
The night-time setting is awesome too - it's really helped me to establish no-phone habits before bedtime. I usually set it to 40 minutes, and after it gets turned on, I don't touch my phone and just read in bed. Then after 20 minutes, I put the book away and the light has gotten dim/red enough that I can close my eyes and try to sleep. I have found that I always fall into a deep sleep within 10 minutes of the sound turning off, which is a huge improvement on the 1.5 hours it took me to fall asleep before.
Overall this thing has done more for my sleep hygiene than anything else I've ever tried. 100/100 value for money.
