Owned cast iron cookware set when much younger!

My father-in-law taught me to season cast iron cookware you must lightly oil it and put it on medium heat for 30 minutes or longer! It will form a slick patina! Then let it set and cool completely off! If you want to go through this process again you will know the cookware is completely seasoned and then lightly oil it again then put it away until ready to cook with it! You never just wash cast iron always put it away oiled! Also before placing food in cookware heat up first on medium heat and make sure cookware is hot then turn temperature back down a little as it will be ready for cooking delicious meals.

Damaged and Flaking

We cook on an electric cooktop and use no metal utensils with this pan. After years of limited use, the interior finish is flaking off. We left it In the kitchen cabinet and forgot about it until recently. I was going to throw it away but my husband had suggested I call Le Creuset because he reminded me that there is a lifetime warranty for their enameled cast iron products. We have many many pieces and this is the only piece that I've ever had an issue with. I submitted a claim online and I'm waiting to hear from the company. I will update as soon as I receive a response. I'll be really disappointed if they don't replace this product but anticipate that they will!

Everything sticks! I use oil as well and things still stick

I always use oil, but no matter what - most everything always sticks. I have tried to put in oven with oil to "season" and no matter what, still sticks. Don't understand how people with good reviews are getting good fried eggs in this pan. The one time I treated myself to a really good pan and this is what I got - a totally frustrating pan. A cheap cast iron pan that I have at our cabin works MUCH MUCH better than this one!!!

Not what I thought it would be

I have other Le Creuset products and love them but this does not perform as well. The cooking surface is not porcelain coated and food sticks, regardless of the amount of oil used. It also doesn't clean as easily. I use it primarily for fried eggs and omelets and was disappointed that I have to scrape the eggs out of the pan. On the good side, it heats up quickly and distributes the heat well.

Best pan I have for a myriad of applications

Have had my le crueset cookware for years and love every piece for its own sake. This particular pan is a workhorse for me. I bake my buttermilk biscuits exclusively in it and they always turn out flawless. Also use it for searing, sautéing and finishing off in the oven. I am glad that I bit the proverbial bullet and paid the big bucks for all of my le crueset cookware when I did …. Phenomenal investment and all the pieces fit in well with the few other ceramic and stainless steel cookware in my kitchen.

Great product!

To all of you ppl leaving crappy reviews because food sticks...are y'all a bunch of idiots or what?!? It's cast iron and cast iron needs to be seasoned to give it a non-stick surface. Why don't you try looking up the process to season a cast iron pan, do it and then come back and re-write your review. This skillet is a great skillet...not sure how exactly it is Le Creuset's fault because you are a bunch of amateurs'.

Glad I got it.

I resisted getting one. I already have a 10½ enameled castiron skillet, but they were on sale. I'm glad I got it. I'm using it a lot for fish, chicken planks, pork schnitzel and chops. Unlike my bare castiron, I'm liking the fact I can make a quick sauce in it to pour over what I made without worrying about the seasoning. Even if something sticks a bit, clean up is really easy.

Eggs are sticking

Having gone through other nonstick pans on an annual basis, I bought this one when in went on sale. After four attempts and four ruined Omelettes, I'm disappointed. I add oil to the pan before heating but regardless of high or low temperature, the eggs sticks. I'm lucky if my omelette can be salvaged as scrambled eggs. The photo below was taken after the pan was wiped out!
