The number of uses varies from person to person. Some patients find they can use an electrode 5 to 10 times, while others say they get more uses. (Hypoallergenic electrodes may provide fewer uses.) To reduce migraine frequency, you should use the PREVENT treatment mode once per day, every day. To relieve migraine symptoms, you should use the ACUTE treatment mode at the very earliest sign of a migraine attack. For the best results, begin ACUTE treatment during prodrome: when you notice the non-pain symptoms that mean an attack is starting soon. We recommend no more than two ACUTE treatments per day. If you need to, you can run the ACUTE programs back-to-back. Take a break of at least 60 minutes before starting a PREVENT session.

First, attach CEFALY to the electrode on your forehead. Then press your device button twice, with a slight pause in between each press. For CEFALY Enhanced and CEFALY Connected devices, you’ll press the button once and see the turquoise light, then press the button again and see the purple light. You can use a mirror to see the indicator light. If you have the Bluetooth-enabled CEFALY Connected, you can use the CeCe Migraine Management app to select and start a treatment.

No, CEFALY should never be painful or uncomfortable. The treatment should feel like a gentle tingling, prickling, or vibrating. You can control the stimulation level! The intensity will slowly increase over the first 14 minutes of a treatment session. When it feels noticeable but still comfortable, press the device button once to hold the stimulation at that level. You should hear a soft beep. Don’t press the device button multiple times. This will increase the intensity. You can also use the CeCe Migraine Management app to adjust the intensity.

Yes. You do not need to use CEFALY at the maximum intensity to get results. When starting a treatment session, the intensity will slowly increase over the first 14 minutes. Press the device button once to hold the stimulation at the level where you notice a sensation but it still feels comfortable. You can also use the CeCe Migraine Management app to control the intensity.

For the best results, use CEFALY while reclining or sitting with your head tilted back. This will help the electrode stay in place. CEFALY may make you feel a little sleepy. Do not drive or operate machinery while using CEFALY or within 1 hour following a treatment.

Any migraine attack or migraine treatment can be logged manually in CeCe. If you want to associate your recent CEFALY sessions with your treatments, make sure your CEFALY Connected device is paired with the CeCe app.

To log an ACUTE session/migraine attack:

• Tap “Log migraine attack” on the home screen.
• Choose a start date and time, or select Now.
• Once you’re feeling better, tap the red bar to stop the log.
• Enter the time the migraine attack ended.
• Then, answer CeCe’s questions about your symptoms, triggers, and treatments for this attack. Or, skip all questions, save the log, and do this later.

To log a PREVENT session or any preventive treatment:

• On the home screen, tap the white box with the plus sign in the top right corner. Select “Medication Treatment” or “Non-Drug Treatment.”
• Answer some questions about the treatment, and save your log. If you did a recent CEFALY PREVENT session, you can associate that session with your log as well!

Yes. Implanted cardiac devices (i.e., pacemakers, loop monitors, defibrillators) are listed as contraindications to CEFALY use according to the US Food and Drug Administration. CEFALY has not been studied in patients with implantable cardiac devices, therefore the contraindication is precautionary. The risk of inference of the CEFALY device with implanted cardiac devices is unknown. If there are specific concerns regarding this contraindication, we recommend you discuss with your cardiologist and / or neurologist to determine the most appropriate and individualized treatment option and alternatives
