Review
''A very insightful read. One of the most subtle, beautiful lessons Mr. Halford explains is the neuroscience business connection in the modern world. There is an undeniable and direct correlation between your brain and your success--as a human being and as a business leader. Read it, and you'll be better at both business and life.'' -AMY COSPER, editor-in-chief, Entrepreneur magazine
''This is a book about you--the way you define your own success and the way you shape your future. Scott offers critical insights into the neuroscience of leadership, inspiring new approaches to build motivation, willpower, stamina, empathy, and creativity. For those seeking to connect passion and purpose to performance, this book can make an immediate and lasting difference.'' -SUSAN PETERS, senior vice president of human resources, GE
''Scott Halford isn't just a smart guy; he's a smart guy who can make you smarter. He uses neuroscience--not pop psychology--and makes complex concepts understandable and actionable. Few of us are using our brains to their full potential. This book will help you use yours far better.'' -MARK SANBORN, international best-selling author of The Fred Factor and You Don't Need a Title to Be a Leader
''Scott's understanding of neuroscience is a great complement to his years of experience as an emotional intelligence and leadership thought leader. I have worked with Scott for over ten years, and he has been extremely helpful to the entire leadership team at American Airlines. Delivered with the same humor and wit he displays in his speeches and presentations, Activate Your Brain is the first book I would recommend for those looking to improve their performance--both at work and in life.'' ---DOUG PARKER, CEO of American Airlines

- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2015There are a lot of books on this subject. I have read many of them. This text does an admirable job of taking the latest findings on brain research and makes the information both compelling and highly accessible. Scott Halford has done the hard work in allowing the reader to make the jump from scientific findings into very practical application. This book is a great read whether consumed cover to cover, or as a coffee table text that you, family and friends dip into randomly - every page offers valuable insights and great tips. If you are pressed for time simply read the "Activation" sections embedded in each chapter.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2015This book makes you think and also wants you to engage in the activities. I am sure to reread this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2019The book provides very basic knowledge about brain activation, related tips and techniques -- ones that you can also research them yourself over the internet..
..But, given the book's relatively low price (0.99$ on the digital version), I consider it a good value buy!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2015This is a wonderful and important book. In the past few years there is so much more information out there about how the brain works, which is great. However, what I love about Scott Halford's approach to it is that, first of all, he's been doing this work for many years, even before it was "popular," and second of all, he's down to earth, accessible, and real. So often I feel stupid or overwhelmed when I hear people talk about or write about brain science...but with Scott's approach and this book, it not only makes sense, I can see how it will help me, my life, and those around me. I highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2015This book is genius. It provides everything you need to better understand the brain and then make pragmatic changes to your life. I love neuroscience, but most books on the topic are long, boring or impractical. This book is easy to read, enjoyable, and provides specific tips for changing your life. A must read!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2018Excellent book with actionable insights that can be applied immediately. I already started using some of the techniques (and have a long list of additional ones to try) and can see positive results.
Most interesting of all is that many of the techniques were shown to me by my amazing wife over the course of our marriage
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2015If you are anything like me, you get so busy with work, family and life, you even make time for improving your body and soul but not your brain. I figure I already did that (school!). But I do know better. Well, Scott Halford has written the book that will help us all to sharpen our brain every single day – helping keep it fit well into old age. Activate Your Brain offers concrete tools and effective strategy that is really helping me to get the most out of my brain!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2017Everything in the book is interesting, but somehow after 50% it got boaring.
I had to force myself to go trough the other half and in the last pages I even jumped chunks of bla, bla, bla.
It's to "conductive". Brake some eggs, put in some fluor, milk, etc., etc. Just like following a cake recipe.
Surelly some people will enjoy following the formula although I guess the cake will come out somewhat ordinary.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for employee/employers, but for EVERYONE.
I think the author undersells this book. It’s aimed at those in the corporate world. However, you don’t need to be a high-flyer or a wannabe high-flyer for it to change your life - anyone from any walk of life will gain much from reading this informative and easy to read piece of work (professionally, personally, student, unemployed, retired and all in between).
To understand a method, the theory behind it has to be explained yet many ‘self-help’ books forgo this. Activate Your Brain doesn’t. In fact, the first sections are dedicated to understanding your brain before the later chapters tackle the ‘doing’.
I’m a final year Ph.D. researcher and it’s given me many tools to keep healthy, motivated and (re)focused.
At this price, it really is a steal.
