How long should you wait before switching to the Advance Retinol if the Beginner doesn't irritate your skin after a month or two of use? I have had only minor breakouts and some dryness in one area so far. Thanks!
- Asked by Retinol Beginner
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Everyone's skin is different, but we recommend starting out with Beginner Retinol 0.1% for at least 3 months. If your skin can tolerate it well and you experience no redness or irritation, then you can start transitioning to Advanced Retinol Gel 0.5%. We always recommend patch testing first, and slowly start to incorporate the Advanced Retinol Gel 0.5% 2-3x a week. Was this answer helpful to you

Can cocokind beginner retinol gel be used with a bha toner?
- Asked by BrownBae
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! Avoid using leave-on acids/exfoliants like glycolic and lactic acid, benzoyl peroxide, physical exfoliants, exfoliating pads, and other topical prescription medications when using retinol. Instead, just move them to your morning routine. For instance, you should move your BHA toner to your morning routine. Was this answer helpful to you

Hi! Only ingredient I see that I'm concerned about is soybean oil, which I've read can clog pores. Does the retinol counteract this?
- Asked by Jess
- Official Answer By cocokind - Brand EngageHi! There is actually no FDA regulation for the term “comedogenic." In fact, there are no standardized tests that can accurately determine if an ingredient will or will not clog your pores or cause breakouts. Skin health is completely individual and dependent on genetics and lifestyle choices, including skincare! Everyone's skin is different but I do hope you'll give our retinol a try for yourself. We also always recommend patch testing our products on a small area of skin to see if our ingredients work for you!Was this answer helpful to you

I was afraid of retinol at first, but now I won't go without
First off, I would like show my appreciation for the awesome instructions on how to use this retinal gel. I was really nervous about using this initially because of all the scary and bad things people have said about retinol, like...it dries out your skin, burn easily, changes pigmentation, etc. I h...

I have fairly sensitive skin and have had issues with retinols and tretinoins in the past. This retinol product goes on gently and I have had no drying or redness (I paired it at night with the ceramide serum and the polypeptide cream). However, it has increased my skin sensitivity; when I tried usi...

Cocokind Beginner Retinol
I have sensitive combo & acne prone skin. Ive been using this every night now and it has not once make my skin irritated/red or purge. It does hve a slight burn to it but i dont know if thats just my sensitive skin, but it goes away instantly after applying moisturizer on top. I've recommended this product to my friends already! Will purchase this or the advanced retinol when I finish this one :)
Please never discontinue
My skin is so sensitive - I've tried other beginner retinols in the past and my skin always freaked out. I have experienced no breakouts or major purging. Im going to keep using this! Love it!
Thank you!

I am not much of a reviewer, but I just had to thank cocokind for creating an affordable retinol that has literally saved my skin. I had a baby 3 months ago, and between pregnancy, postpartum, and nearing my 35th birthday I didn't recognize my skin anymore. I went from perfectly normal unproblematic skin to extremely sensitive, red, and dry with occasional breakouts. I tried so many products that ended up being influencer garbage that wasted my time and money. Not so with this company and particularly this retinol. I've not been able to tolerate retinols, but not only does my skin tolerate this, I can use it every night. My skin is much more hydrated, glowy, and even now, and it's only been a couple of weeks. Please never stop making this!
The best retinol ever!...

The best retinol ever! I was terrified to try retinol but this product made it so easy and it literally changed my skin in a way I didn't know was possible. I'm now using the advanced formula but I was using this one for a year and I loved what it did for my skin.
Perfect Christmas gift to myself

This retinol product has been a great introduction for my more sensitive/dry skin. I've had no issues since incorporating it into my routine as suggested and am looking forward to moving to the more powerful retinol in several weeks!
