About the author

Enid Blyton is one of the most popular children's authors of all time. Her books have sold over 500 million copies and have been translated into other languages more often than any other children's author.
Enid Blyton adored writing for children. She wrote over 700 books and about 2,000 short stories. The Famous Five books, now 75 years old, are her most popular. She is also the author of other favourites including The Secret Seven, The Magic Faraway Tree, Malory Towers and Noddy.
Born in London in 1897, Enid lived much of her life in Buckinghamshire and loved dogs, gardening and the countryside. She was very knowledgeable about trees, flowers, birds and animals. Dorset - where some of the Famous Five's adventures are set - was a favourite place of hers too.
Enid Blyton's stories are read and loved by millions of children (and grown-ups) all over the world. Visit enidblyton.co.uk to discover more.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2023Hello! This is a book I've searched for..... I would highly recommend Seattle Goodwill as a great source! I will keep looking and use them as a source for great books and other things.
Enid Blytons Faraway Tree stories are wonderfully imaginative.
Many thanks for the lovely book,
I am thrilled with the purchase.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2005I cannot encourage teachers, librarians and parents enough to add Enid Blyton and especially this series to their shelves. Great bedtime read-aloud, excellent introduction to listening to chapter books.
Note to owners of older copies, this new version has been altered. I was slightly shocked when my copy arrived. The names of the children were different than in my old used copies of the first two stories! Bessie is Beth, Fannie is Frannie, Dick is Rick and Jo is Joe. It's not a big deal and I just say the old British version as I read aloud, but I wish I'd known that it had been revised. I also suspect that some words were 'updated', but it's not terribly noticable. I'm just glad another Blyton book is back in print!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2019Get the series of books for your small child... you and they will both enjoy the splendid stories.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 30, 2009I have read this book once when I was a child, and have loved it since then. This book takes you to a place where no character is too strange and there is no limit to your fantasy. Highly recommended for both children and adults who want to enter a world of adventures!

The book is a beautiful, large hardback in full colour with lovely vintage style illustrations. My daughter was absolutely delighted.
Adding a review because it was so hard to find detailed information on this! This is for the vintage hardback edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spannend
