Is it possible to over-exfoliate with Softwear?
Hydroxycaprylic Acid is the chemical exfoliant that powers Softwear’s smoothing capabilities. This lipophilic (oil loving) AHA has a large molecule size, meaning it has a lower irritation profile than AHAs like glycolic and lactic acid. It helps slough off of dead skin cells removing those dry crusties, revealing soft, smooth lips. Knowing that lip balms are used frequently throughout the day, it’s included at a low, but efficacious level.
Is Softwear glossy? Is it sticky??
Softwear is a true lip balm, not a gloss. It glides on clear with a medium shine and leaves a balmy dewy finish. Due to the squalane base, the formula isn’t sticky– we promise.

I have always had dry, flaky lips, no matter what. I’ve used just about everything on the market and nothing has ever worked for me. Even something like aquaphor would disappear in 10 minutes ope so, and would also irritate my intensely sensitive skin. I tried this because I’m already an Experiment stan, and bc I was really intrigued by the exfoliant in the formula, and the lippie over delivered! Firstly, the texture is like nothing I’ve experienced before — it is very thick, but it isn’t overly sticky or a sensory nightmare like many thick balms are. Naturally, it’s super hydrating, and because of the exfoliant, my lips are completely smooth for the first time in my life after one and a half days of use. It has serious lasting power—once it’s on my lips, I do not need to reapply for at least an hour, even if I’m smacking my lips. It is a small container size for the price, but you really don’t need to use a lot for it to be effective. Additionally, this has yet to irritate my skin, and even aquaphor usually leaves me with irritation around the mouth. Yet another holy grail from experiment, I’m going to order extras to keep in different bags + around the house :)

This stuff is absolute perfection. No matter how dry or dehydrated my lips are, this glides on and makes my lips plump and juicy. The glossiness isn't high-performing like a lipgloss (or say, the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment), so it fades after a few minutes but the results are better than any lip treatment I've tried, smooth, soothed, and soft.

This stuff is AMAZING!!! I’m in customer svc and speak to ppl all day nonstop and my lips get so dry even with my lipstick/balms/gloss you name it but not with this. I purchased several more to keep on hand. Please don’t stop making this.
